The Emergency Food Assistance Program

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that helps supplement the diets of people with low income by providing them with emergency food assistance at no cost. USDA provides 100% American-grown USDA Foods and administrative funds to states to operate TEFAP.

2nd Harvest Bite2Go and Mobile Market Programs

Second Harvest works closely with a growing number of community partners to lower childhood hunger by providing Bite2Go food supplies over the weekend during the school year. Every Friday, staff members at participating schools put the packages of kid-friendly food discreetly in the backpacks of students in need.

Second Harvest’s Mobile Market brings healthy food directly to high-need communities throughout the Inland Northwest. Since 2006, the Mobile Market has provided fresh produce and other groceries at no cost to families, children and seniors experiencing food insecurity.

Farm to Food Pantry Program

Farm to Food Pantry (F2FP) is a partnership between WSDA Food Assistance and Harvest Against Hunger (HAH) founded in 2014. The initiative helps strengthen community-based food systems by supporting local farmers, hunger relief organizations, and their clients. The primary goal of F2FP is to support local, small-scale farmers while increasing access to nutrient-dense and nourishing foods for Washingtonians facing food insecurity.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)

Washington State Department of Agriculture’s Food Assistance (FA) program manages CSFP, receiving food and operational funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for distribution to 13 CSFP Lead Agencies statewide. These hunger-relief organizations have an Agreement with FA to provide CSFP food to more than 5,000 individuals who are 60 years of age and older in Washington.

The focus of CSFP is on nutritional supplementation. The program provides participants with cheese and a variety of shelf-stable food items including fruits, vegetables, healthy juices, dairy, potatoes, cereal, rice, and protein.
